Anyone can come up with a business idea, but it takes a lot more
than pure ambition to see those ideas come into fruition. To help budding
businesspeople "bridge the gap between concept and reality," Global Entrepreneurs Network (GENO) hosts Business Plan Boot Camp, where
entrepreneurs of all ages learn from successful venture capitalists.
|
Objectives of VCs and Entrepreneurial Boot
Camps:
-
Design and position a business for sustainable competitive advantage.
-
Optimize your business model for minimum risk and capital investment.
-
Develop and validate a better vision and business plan that works in the real
world in attracting and exciting investors, employees and customers.
In two highly intensive 8-hour intensive days, we will bring investors,
bankers, and venture capitalists together with emerging growth businesses that
are seeking funding. Through applications screened by a panel of venture
capitalists, 12 companies are chosen to attend and present their business
plans. The three-day event is held on a bi-annual basis.
Prior to the Conference:
Companies are allowed to submit their plans in which a screening committee
composing of venture capitalists, service providers, and private investors will
select 12 companies from approximately 200 to 300 applicants to present their
plans. Following the selection process, each presenter is matched with a local
team of at least two volunteer coaches who will work with the companies up to
one week prior to the conference. Attendees will set up a booth and
present to venture capitalists.
Developing their biz plan:
At the boot camp, participants learn about trends in venture financing, how to
prepare and present an investment-grade business plan, and how to develop an
actionable growth plan. This is also catered for participants who want to their
fine-tune business plans and investor presentations and for management at
existing start-ups. Participants will also learn key elements of building an
equity-backed business, provide connections to local resources, and offer
insights on pitching to investors.
Attendees who meet qualifying criteria and submit an online executive summary
for review and will receive coaching in key business areas and receive mentoring
and assistance in business development. No contractual obligations are required
unless you enter into a working relationship with GENO following the boot camp.
What happens at the camp?
Business leaders will answer questions and provide strategies, resources,
ideas, and contacts to budding entrepreneurs. The GENO Boot Camp for
Entrepreneurs features learning about funding options from experts and working
with venture capitalists, as well as other investors. Attendees also get an
updated assessment of the market during the morning keynote address.
Participants present their business plan before an audience from the financial
community and receive feedback. Volunteers also actively counsel
entrepreneurs in preparation for showcase presentations. GENO's mission is to
link entrepreneurs with management expertise, joint venture partners, mentors,
business services, capital and other critical resources.
Successful participants who have managed to raise money from VCs, angel
investors, will be there to share their real life experiences on how they
managed to raise capital for their ventures. They will also share their
experiences on the above:
-
Designing and positioning your business for sustainable competitive advantage
